THE FRIENDS CHOIR

We are a group of young(?) men and women dedicated to serving the Lord through music. Our goal is to motivate the religious community to participate in church activities. The difference between us and other choirs: we do our stuff "with style"!

Now be a pal and serve Him!

Join us.

The FCAT

A new sub-group of the choir has been formed recently during the trek to Puray, Montalban, Rizal. This group is in action whenever there are extra-curricular trips involving mountains, rivers, and the likes. Now, I happily introduce the Friends Choir Adventure Team... a.k.a "FCAT".

The FCAT has been created to facilitate in all choir hike and trek activities. The latest trip was a trek to Puray wherein the FCAT members had to cross the river 17 times in order to reach the waterfall at the end of the stream. Knowing the choir, this trip had its shares of cool and stupid moments.

The members who went to Puray were: Avol, his girlfriend Lisa, Cheme, Alex, Bing, Bong, Ruby, Joy, Sheila, Albert, and Deyey. These people contributed a lot to the wackiness of the trek.

Avol and Lisa: They were the "guides". Being experienced trekkers as well as hikers, they know the terrain well. They assisted the others in crossing the river and ultimately reaching the waterfall.

Cheme: He brought a tent so that if ever it rained (which did happen), our things would be safe inside from the water.

Alex: He drove the van... and brought the FCAT to Puray. He is also the newly-crowned "Hero" of the choir.

Bing: He brought his camera and tripod to the site thus capturing the silly moments during the trip. He also brought Deyey's favorite instant noodles.

Bong: He collected stones from the site. According to him, he is going to put these in his 5-gallon aquarium. Yet, he persevered the 2-hour walk from the waterfall back to the van carrying all his stones... which roughly weighed around 10++ kilos!

Ruby: She never actually wanted to swim but got in the water anyway (after experiencing the sudden mountain rain). She is the choir's new "Princess".

Joy: She scaled the sides of the mountain near the waterfall area thus earning the nickname "Gagamba".

Sheila: She introduced a new word for the Filipino dictionary: "Ticolgen"... a cure for men ailing from masturbation sickness.

Albert: He kept Bong in check from cracking silly jokes and humor with no sense at all. He also earned the tag "Submerge" for suddenly disappearing underwater during an emergency situation.

Deyey: He wrote the story.

Best parts of the trip:

- Walked about 5 km (more or less) to reach the falls.
- Crossed the river 17 times.
- Swam in the waterfall basin.
- Ate lunch while basking in the rain.
- Pictures galore.
- Climbing the top of the waterfall.
- Bong and Albert going at each other... giving the others a glimpse of a brand new comedy show.

Worst parts of the trip:

- Walked about 5 km (more or less)... TWICE!
- While crossing the river the second time, the water got muddy thus disabling anyone to see the stones he is going to step on.
- The water in the basin has a temperature similar to that of a refrigerator!
- Sudden mountain rain.
- Unable to rinse after the swim thus everybody was itching (literally) to go home and take a bath.
- A near-accident which got everyone in frenzy.

Best lines:

"My hero..." and "Save me..." (in an Olive Oyl tone)

Next FCAT trip: Unknown

Lekat na Layout

Well, the blog entry title says it all.

Lekat!!

I frankly feel that I'm fresh out of layout ideas.

Pramis. Kung sakali nga, ikatutuwa ko pa 'to. Heheh.

Maiwan ko muna ang pag-HTML. Nasusuya na ako.

What's Up?

New member: Wowie. No it's not the former love interest of Judy Ann Santos. SHE (yes... Wowie is a girl) will be a part of the Sopranos.

Happenings: Friday - Drinking Session in Bing's house. After the mass, most of the choir members went to Bing's abode to drink some "gin pomelo". Some went home early because there will be a "choir hiking" the next day.

Happenings: Saturday - Choir Hiking. Only Alex, Ruby and Deyey were able to attend. The others who "committed" were either drunk or still sleeping. Although few in numbers, the three were able to successfully climb the peak of the mountain (in Montalban, Rizal). Their only dilemma... they still need sleep...

Special Announcement

To the Friends choir members, aspirants, and "friends of Friends", it is with grat joy that I announce that:

(drum roll dito)

We now have a message board!!

Yepyep. It's up and running. Visit:

http://friendschoirboard.themidnightrun.com

Baket? Kasi nagpabunot ako ng wisdom teeth. Ayoko nang ikwento. Sawa na ako. Hahah. If you want more details, the full story is in my blog.

Sorry pare, lagi kaming "crunch-time" sa trabaho. Ngayon na lang ulit ako nakahinga. Pero tutulong ako. Sooner than later, I hope.

Ciao!

Wowowee!!

oh wowers! the Friends choir's own blogsite! kudos to dyeypee!! ye did a great job! hehe. wala lang. nothing much to say.

me here at work... nagpapanggap na nagtratrabaho. hehe. sobrang bangag ako, i swear. only had about 2 or 3 hours of sleep. left the house at 5 am (nanibago ako kasi ngayon ko lang ulit na-experience ang mag-commute at makita ang araw na sumisikat at the same time. haaay. mahirap maging isang "buffy"...) coz i had to go to the office to meet up with my dept. we all went together for our medical (annual physical examination). ayon... borrrring. kept on waiting for our turns. una yung x-ray...2nd, weight (i gained weight. bummer! shuckers! maybe about 2.5 kilos. tsk), height (maliit pa rin...), blood pressure (110/70)... 3rd, physical exam (as in physical ah. hehe. but that wasnt so bad. i've experienced worse in UP and in my pre-employment for Manila Polo Club)... 4th, urine sample... 5th...my favorite (sarcastic to ah..)...drum roll please... blood sample! wala lang. ang masasabi ko lang, may achievement ako! hindi ako hinimatay nung kinuhanan ako ng dugo. bwahahaha. sa 3 times na nagpakuha ako ng dugo sa buong buhay ko, ngayon lang hindi nagdilim ang paningin ko at hindi ako nakakita ng stars at hindi na kelangan umamoy ng ammonia. *belat*

so ayon... natapos ako 1 pm na. at gutom na gutom na ako by that time! because they required us not to drink or eat anything before that (so so famished! i could eat a horse. =P). nakauwi ako sa unit ng mga 230. nakahiga na by 3. may tumawag sa telepono ng 330. still restless at 4. siguro mga 5 na nakatulog at gumising ulit ng 750pm to get ready for work. haaaay.

ngayon... halos wala pa akong nagagawa eh 1am na. sabi ko nga ive got nothing much to say noh? hehe. panggap! =) (si dyeypee, panggap!!)

next timie. take care ye all. mwah!  =)

Don't Judge the Book

Some people say Church organizations are boring. They assume that they are too "religious" and have no time for fun. We'll, they better look again.

We are not your average choir which simply sings during Eucharistic celebrations or weddings or funerals. We too have our own ways of having fun!

Usually, we all eat together after Mass. Vigie has this restaurant which cater different kinds of delicacies. He has this special "sisig" which haunt the choir members, making them come back for more.

Every year, we also have an "outing" to relax our tired bodies (from singing). During the summer of 2003, the choir spent 3 days in Batangas. We are "water lovers".

The members also have different tastes in fashion and music. We have those who wear the latest trends while others make their own trends. We don't always sport the "goody-goody choirboy" look. Cheme has his reggae / afro hairdo. Albert has his "pseudo-Superman" bangs. Deyey has a different hairdo almost every time.

Being a church choir doesn't exactly mean we have to listen to "holy" music from the likes of Don Moen. We too have our own personal favorites. Here are some to name a few:

Martin Nievera, Oasis, Noel Cabangon, Yano, Eraserheads, Ogie Alcasid, Josh Groban, All Saints, N'Sync, P.O.D., Metallica, Mariah Carey, Green Day, Eagles, Beatles... etc.

You name it... we have members who can relate to you! Do you think we don't know about "Dahong Palay" and other underground OPM bands?

We also sing different musical genres. Aside from the praise music, we also jam a lot of Pop, Classic, Alternative and R n B tunes.

So... as wisecracks say... "change us" (ibahin niyo kami)!

Come on... don't shy... let's join us! Tawa naman diyan!

At Long Last...

Finally... the Friends Choir now have a small Net home of their own. It is harder to maintain a REAL website because the members of the group are either busy or do not care much about HTML codes. Therefore, a blog site is a good alternative for showing the world the greatness of this organization...

Eventually, the members would get the chance to create and post their own messages here. Yet, for now, only I can post here... because I'm the only one who knows this site is already functional.

Hmmm... maybe I should be telling my mates that we now have a place in the Net... yeah... that would be a great idea!

Stick around for updates!!!
